And read to me from dusty pages

All the echoes of our lives

You’d fold the napkins, sitting on the stairs

Through the afternoon

I’d sit there watching till you’d stack the chairs

From across the room

I kept your letters in my life

Kept them safe and sound

And I read back through them once in a while

When there’s no one else around
