Sitting at home, the telephone rings

Old girl of mine looking to spend some time

Now my girlfriend’s away.

I can’t see no harm

A couple of drinks and some talk of old times

When the cat’s away the mice will play

We had such good time, a bottle of wine

With some old friends of mine

The next thing I knew, we were alone together

We dimmed the lights, our bodies entwined

When the cat’s away the mice will play

Then a knock on my door, a spill of some wine

I answer the door, and what do I find?

My girlfriend staring at me, boy, what a surprise!

To make a long story short, she asked how I could do this

In a calm sort of voice

And then without an answer, I mean, what could I say?

I just closed the door and that was goodbye…
