Toen ik nog een jongen was

Als de zomer dan begon

Ging ik graag nog wat naar buiten

In de zachte avond zon

Maar voordat je in de straat was

Ben je klaar met ieder boek

Voor je daar weer gaat staan lummelen

Als student zag ik de hoeren

Op het oudekerksplein

Die in omvang en in leeftijd

Wel mijn moeder konden zijn

Jaren later zag je hoertjes

Ook op straat we, in de kou

Zo godallejezus jong nog

Dat je bijna vragen zou:

Is je huiswerk al wel af?

Heb je ieder vak gedaan

Voor je met je blote benen

Hier ging staan?

In de krant zie ik een foto

Van een dappere soldaat

Die toch eigenlijk wel blij is dat ze weer naar huis toe gaat

Ze is een Amerikaanse

En ze ligt op een brancard

En omdat ze nog een kind is

Aardig kind is, vraag ik haar:

Was je huiswerk wel af?

Was je klaar met ieder vak

Voor je zo gewond moest raken
