Sonnenflug - Grobschnitt

Es war einmal ein sehr gelehrter mann

Der lange nachgedacht und dann begann

Aus wachs wie vogelflügel sich zu baun

Ums sich die welt von oben anzuschaun

Schwing dich hinauf du hast ja die macht

Doch flieh vor dem feuer das in dir erwacht

Er lernte fliegen mit der vogelschar

Sein sohn bat staunend, bau mir auch ein paar

Der alte sprach: «so leicht ist fliegen nicht

Du mußt dich hüten vor der sonne licht.»

Und der junge

Glitt mit stolzem schwunge

Voller übermut

Zu nah der sonnenglut

Die bloß das wachs zerschmelzen ließ

Und damit schon bewies

Wie tief wir menschen fallen

Wenn leichtsinn uns auf flügeln trägt

Als der alte seinen sohn verlor

Zerbrach er sein flügelpaar und schwor

Nie mehr soll jemand damit spielen

Bis wir lernen die gefahr zu fühlen

Once upon a time there was a very learned man

Who thought for a long time and then began

To build themselves out of wax like bird wings

To see the world from above

Swing up you have the power

But flee from the fire that awakens in you

He learned to fly with the flock of birds

His son asked in amazement to build me a few too

The old man said: "Flying is not that easy

You must beware of the sun's light."

And the boy

Glide with a proud swing

Full of exuberance

Too close to the sun's blaze

That just melted the wax

And that's already proven

How far we humans fall

When carelessness carries us on wings

When the old man lost his son

He broke his pair of wings and swore

Nobody should ever play with it again

Until we learn to feel the danger

Swing up you have the power

But flee from the fire that awakens in you
