Als die Zeit ihr Werk begann,

Kam das Licht zur Welt;

Ein Wunder begann,

Und das weite Himmelszelt

Wurde nun hell — das Leben fing an.

Und von diesem Tage an

Schwebt das Schiff der Welt

Mit Leben durchs All;

Es zieht lautlos seine Bahn,

Vergisst nie sein Ziel im uralten Plan.

Sonnenwind, er weht

Bis zu dir, mein blauer Planet;

Streicht dein Wolkenhaar

Sanft Jahr um Jahr.

Stell mir vor, ich schweb allein

Durch die Sternenflut,

Verloren und klein;

Und ich treib zur Erde hin,

Sie fängt mich auf — denn ich bin ihr Kind.

Ihre Farbe ist das Meer,

Und die Sonnenfeuer leuchten auf ihr;

Und das große Sternenheer liegt himmelweit

Und fliegt doch mit ihr — bis ans Ende der Zeit.

came the light into the world;

A miracle began

And the big sky

Became light now — life began.

And from this day on

Floats the ship of the world

With life through space;

It makes its way silently,

Never forgets his goal in the ancient plan.

Solar wind, it blows

Up to you, my blue planet;

Strokes your cloud hair

Gentle year after year.

Imagine floating alone

through the flood of stars,

lost and small;

And I'm drifting towards the earth

She catches me — because I am her child.

Her color is the sea

And the fires of the sun shine on her;

And the great army of stars lies sky-wide

And yet flies with her — until the end of time.
