In caffeineland all jobs get done

We live by the gun

And life is just a plan for one

In textbook terms and rules of thumb

I walk outside but I freeze in the sun

Having deferred to the longer run

I give up my right to be young

My blood flows as the joy ride comes

And my heart says to grab on

But my fingers are numb

Are downstairs again

And high school memories fill my head

A time to treasure, so I’ve read

But summer is dead

And pleasure means nothing, so they said

And so I had some pain instead

I turned my face when tears were shed

And nobody knew that I followed

Each cheer she led

I felt dizzy as I walked the beach

And the sunbathers gave no sound

But the radios all told me that

What was not lost can’t be found

Well I’d call myself an artist if I could

Make these feelings clear

But there’s a million things to think about
