Ich stehe hier, sing meine Lieder

Manche sind lustig und manche sind blöd

Manche sind traurig und manche sagen:

'Gut das die Zeit so schnell vergeht.'

Sie werden sich fragen: 'Hat der das nötig?

Und glaubt der wirklich, daß das jemand gefällt?

Kann der nichts anderes?'

Dann kann ich nur sagen:

'Ich bin nicht mehr jung und ich brauche das Geld.'

Als ich noch jung war, hatte ich Träume

Sie sind verflogen, wie das so geht

Ich wollte was werden, es ist nichts geworden

Das lag zum Teil an der Realität

Jetzt steh ich hier und ich muß sagen,

Daß es mir hier sehr gut gefällt

Und wenn sie mich fragen, warum ich das singe

Ich bin nicht mehr jung und ich brauche das Geld

Das klingt jetzt alles unendlich traurig

Aber das täuscht, das ist wirklich nicht so

Ich bin optimistisch, ich habe Kinder

Und tief im Herzen, da bin ich so froh

Wenn ich hier stehe und sie so sehe

Bin ich der glücklichste Mensch auf der Welt

Und wenn sie mich fragen, warum ich das sage

Ich bin nicht mehr jung und ich brauche das Geld

You will ask yourself: 'Does he need this?

And does he really think that anyone likes it?

Can't he do anything else?'

Then I can only say:

'I'm not young anymore and I need the money.'

When I was young, I had dreams

They're gone, how it goes

I wanted to become something, nothing came of it

That was partly due to reality

Now I'm standing here and I have to say

That I like it here very much

And if they ask me why I'm singing this

Now that all sounds incredibly sad

But that's deceptive, that's really not the case

I'm optimistic, I have children

And deep in my heart, I'm so happy

When I stand here and see her like this

Am I the happiest person in the world
