Когда ты грустишь — мне хочется петь,

И так вот всегда.

Упреком ли, словом захочешь задеть —

Так я не горда.

Ты хмуришься вечно, а я так беспечна,

Не быть нам вдвоем.

Мы разные песни поём — ты о вечном,

А я о земном.

Ты ночью сидишь при свете луны

Над книгой своей.

Страницы алы, а знаки черны,

И ты всё черней.

Сползаются тени из дальних углов

К твоей голове,

А я ухожу на запах костров

По мягкой траве.

А ночь так свежа, и пахнет сирень,

Гудят провода.

Останешься ты стеречь свою тень,

Один, как всегда.

Ты писем не будешь писать и стихов

Про ревность и грусть,

Не станешь моих дожидаться шагов,

И я не вернусь

On soft grass.

And the night is so fresh, and the lilac smells,

Wires are buzzing.

Will you stay to guard your shadow,

You will not write letters and poems

About jealousy and sadness

You won't wait for my steps
