E ha portato fortuna anche a tutti i miei amici del cortile

Che mi seguono da sempre

Perché insieme ci divertiamo

A diciotto anni sono emigrato a Milano

Così come fanno tutti quelli che sono nati al sud

Anche i bluesman nati al delta del Mississippi andavano

Verso nord

Chicago, New York

Io a Milano ci sono andato perché volevo fare la musica

E le case discografiche erano tutte lì

Così ho cominciato a bazzicare quei corridoi, quelle anticamere

Cercando almeno di accaparrarmi le simpatie delle segretarie

Dei padrini e dei padroni dell’industria del disco

È stata un’esperienza dura ma divertente

Del resto era questa la mia vocazione

Poi un bel giorno quando meno me lo aspettavo

Quando ormai avevo pensato di lasciar perdere

È arrivata la grande occasione

Nel senso che il capo della lobby che conta ha detto sì

Io confesso che ne ho approfittato subito

Anche perché dopo anni di gavetta
