Gone There -

I was born in the year of the Ox

Early years felt like I was thrown to the dogs

On a three day week, with only time to spare

Seems like fate not to trust your own mind

What’s in the air back then, today is hard to find

It’s a long way home, just to find a friend

I heard people praying like there must be something more

Felt like Robert Barclay on that East Jersey shore

And it’s a long way home, to come back again

Those too young to worry, I don’t envy know

Don’t care to think to much for myself anyhow

I’m not alone, it might just seem that way

So got to kick, and feel I could shout

I’m damned if I’m just gonna give up like that

There’s good soil on this land, waits to be turned again

So throw down the grain, put down your guns

You’ll never survive, just look what we’ve become

It’s a long way home, to a place I never left

I see people look from the corner of an eye,

Mistrust turns to fear, lose the man, lose the child
