Back when I was a child, oh my middle school days, lazy ways

I would look in amazement at the world was so large

My family, my father was so in charge

My lover, oh, she’s gone to be in the mountain with the stars

And so I go to school, and my imagination runs wild

Making up beats, with my teeth, never pencils they don’t teach you

How to find yourself or be an individual

You can learn what you need to from the other kids in school

Quiet down children listen up, um…

We know you don’t give a fuck, so

This is the story of when I was your age

Celebrating my first birthday with my toys in my cage

And I feel far too much cuz the love for my world is too strong

Sometimes I think that it’s wrong, feelings like this just won’t last forever

Cuz the times that I miss they’ve been lost to me for far too long

Until now I’ve written this song, I must make peace with what’s happened in here

And so I go to school, and nothing more than I have realized

There is no truth, there are no lies, who knows?

I like to live slow, watching the sun rise

Sitting on my patio, stop by and say «hi»

I think about those days no haze of when I was a boy

Visiting the grocery store, to feed my frogs some more

Tadpoles bring pure joy, and cheese and deli ham

Blue skys, big eyes, small hands, Lake Michigan sand

How we thought life was fair

Summer mornings with no warnings fresh cut grass in the air

Sitting in my basement, is how my days went

Headphones, marijuana, nightly vacations

And this all stems from what I have seen

And felt from this life that which I have perceived

Thank God for what little I do believe in

Thank me, the Earth, that I’m still breathing

And I feel far too much cuz the love for my world is too strong
