Ihm ist so richtig übel,

so wacht er jeden Morgen auf.

Er quält sich aus dem Bett

und kotzt sich erstmal aus.

Seine Hände zittern,

sein Gesicht ist leichenblass.

Er stolpert panisch durch die Wohnung

und sucht nach einem Glas.

Es gibt für ihn nur einen Freund,

der ihn wirklich versteht,

der immer für ihn da ist,

auch wenn’s ihm noch so dreckig geht.

Mit ihm durchquert er selbst das allertiefste Tal.

Schluck für Schluck

kämpft er sich durch den Tag.

Warum wundert sich Mami so?

Sie hat den ganzen Tag geschuftet,

Dann bist du ein paar Stunden frei

that's how he wakes up every morning.

He stumbles through the apartment in a panic

even if he's feeling really dirty.

Why is Mom so surprised?

She toiled all day

unnoticed and without thanks.

Then she walks like remote controlled

toward the kitchen cupboard.

she calls "Come and drink me up!"

Then you're free for a few hours

and wake up tomorrow.
