The sun beats down on my bedroom window

Trapped inside this cage of myself, so hot don’t I know

Everyday’s the same, ego goes insane

Knowing that I’m wasting my time, my frugal reign

Playing out of bars like I’m playing at arenas

Driving a cheap car like a brand new beamer

Eyes to the future, that’s all I ever did

Trying to get better, just trying to get a gig

Learning from the sound that I throw on to get a way

Thinking I’m a star ever since everyday

I question the length that I can go without a paycheck

Certainly better than I can get with a replacement

I don’t know how I did it but I dug myself deep

If it’s a game then I can play it, hard as this concrete

I said I’d be torn but yet it’s only talk

Killing myself with words but yet it’s all I got

Everybody’s gotta fight

Everybody’s got a chance right?

So why do we feel so low

Even when we hold our heads high

The paint on my canvas is stripped away to white

Paint it all red make me feel all right

They say go to college, get an education

Get a real job, get a damn steady paycheck

Pills of the small life, too big to swallow

Sink to my stomach, my eyes so hollow

I’m drowning in myself, a severe storm warning

To flood the lake, intense the wake, and don’t wake up til morning

I’ve been screaming at the man in the mirror until he screams back

My fist beats down like a drum and now this glass is cracked

The fame that I scream about behind the track

Ain’t enough to show the passion of these words — fact

Cause all of these syllables are keeping my mouth full

And I can still claim, claim an individual

But I’m just another kid with a six string at a soul

Hoping that I fly before The Abyss swallows me whole
