Stamane ho incontrato un compagno di scuola

che

non aveva più un nome finora,

ha gli occhi di un padre e somiglia a un pittore

che parla di sé con le mani.

I semplici nomi alle barche di Dio, mentre

i nomi altezzosi alle chiese,

buonsenso alle danze di fanti

bendati

che brindano senza pensare.

Gente che viene, gente che va,

la gente che resta è quella che dà.

L’amico mi parla il suo dialetto

scuro,

madeleine da cui affiora il mio istinto più puro;

giocare col tempo va bene, ma solo se è

come fa un padre col figlio maturo.

Che «dotto» è parola

diversa da «saggio»

credevo di averlo saputo,

lo scrivono i libri, lo dicono

in tanti

lo sanno tutti, ma nessuno.

Gente che viene, gente che va,

la gente che resta è quella che dà…

Le menti più grandi si estinguono, ma soppiantarle saranno adunanze

e stormi di intelligenze «normali»

che,

insieme, già sono geniali.
