Lean in close and you may hear the cries of crashing seas

And a death to lofty expectations meant for me A star is born tonight, in between these walls away from spotlights

As it shoots across the skies, dimming too much for wishes within my sights

Praying I won’t lay my head down

Another morning with a mind racing, heartbeats hold still

Sweating longer miles as liquor pours out of this quill

The final word is mine, now smash the conch and fill this hourglass with wine

In a subtle toast to life and the silenced spirits left unrecognized
