The city has everything you could ever need;

availability of

all things great and small at any time of the day — she invites you to play

The many varied people, and all of their colorful contributions

The vibrant sheen of traffic lights reflected on wet pavement, the warm

familiar scent

of dryer exhaust from a building up the street,

and it’s funny how the distant wail of sirens can be so comforting

Downtown’s got the action, you know the city’s where things happen, yeah

Laws get passed while bums sort through trash

A couple kiss, protesters smash, an accident occurs while a mother gives birth

The girls walk by all dressed so well, one man’s in heaven while another’s in

hell

A lawyer passes the bar and the city gets a little more sleazy

All these things I need to see, I can’t just be an absentee
