's Ochtends bij 't ontbijt

Ik lees de krant en drink m’n thee

En als de radio Mozart draait

Dan fluit ik zachtjes mee

En 's avonds in de kroeg

Na wat glazen rode wijn

Dan praat ik honderduit

Ik lijk de oude wel te zijn

Maar schijn bedriegt, van de waarheid win je nooit

Je mag het weten, ik mis je nog steeds

Maar ik voel diep in m’n hart dat heel die tijd niet

Voor niets is geweest

'k Doe mijn jas aan, wil naar huis

Als net op dat moment

De deur wijd opengaat

En jij die daar dan bent

Je knipoogt en je straalt

Ik schrik, verroer geen vin

Maar als je naar een andere tafel loopt

Houdt heel de kroeg z’n adem in

En ik kijk hoe je praat en bij het horen van je lach

Op zo’n moment dan mis ik jou het meest

Maar ik voel diep in m’n hart dat heel die tijd niet

Voor niets is geweest

Niets lijkt nu nog vreemd

Een mens gaat zijn weg

En elke stap telt mee

Niemand komt zomaar in je leven voorbij

Je bent een zegen geweest voor mij

Een klok slaat middernacht

Ik wandel traag naar huis

De straat is vredig stil

En in die stilte kom ik thuis

Ik ben nu wie ik ben

Diegene die ik nooit zou zijn

Als ik jou niet had gekend

Zo zal je altijd bij me zijn

En nu ik weet waar ik sta en ik voel dat ik weer leef

Op dit moment raakt het me 't meest

Dat ik voel, diep in mijn hart, dat heel die tijd niet

Voor niets is geweest

In the morning at breakfast

I read the newspaper and drink my tea

And when the radio Mozart is playing

Then I whistle softly

And in the evening in the pub

After some glasses of red wine

Then I'll talk one hundred

I seem to be the old one

But appearances are deceiving, you never win from the truth

You may know, I still miss you

But deep in my heart I don't feel that all the time

has been for nothing

I put on my coat, want to go home

As just at that moment

The door opens wide

And you who are there

You wink and you beam

I'm scared, don't move a fin

But if you walk to another table

The whole pub is holding its breath

And I watch you talk and hear your laugh

At such a moment I miss you the most

But deep in my heart I don't feel that all the time

has been for nothing

Nothing seems strange now 

A man goes his way

And every step counts

No one just comes into your life

You  have been a blessing to me

A clock strikes midnight

I walk slowly home

The street is peacefully quiet

And in that silence I come home

I am now who I am

The one I never would be

If I hadn't known you

So you will always be with me

And now I know where I stand and I feel I live again

Right now it touches me the most

That I feel, deep in my heart, not all this time

has been for nothing
