Quand j’tais un petit garon, plein de vie et de joie

Un jour que j’tais trs gentil, mon pre me rapporta

Un jouet extraordinaire, avec de gros yeux verts

Je l’ai pris dans mes bras mais quand je l’ai pos par terre

Il faisait «Zip» quand il roulait

«Bap» quand il tournait

«Brrr» quand il marchait

Je ne sais pas ce que c’tait

Et je crois que je ne le saurai jamais

Tout tonn la premire fois, quand je l’ai retourn

J’ai vu qu’il avait sur le ventre deux gros boutons dors

J’ai pouss l’un et l’autre aprs, puis les ai tirs tous les deux

Mais quand je l’ai repos par terre, j’ai ouvert de grands yeux

Il faisait «Zip» quand il roulait

«Bap» quand il tournait

«Brrr» quand il marchait

Je ne sais pas ce que c’tait

Et je crois que je ne le saurai jamais

Il marcha comme un militaire, tout coup il s’assit

Il passa sous une chaise et puis, soudain disparut sous le lit

J’ai pleur tandis que mon pre, lui, riait aux clats

Car en me retournant, je vis le jouet qui tait derrire moi

Les annes ont pass trop vite, et justement hier

Dans le grenier j’ai retrouv ce jouet extraordinaire

J’ai appel mon petit garon, et le lui ai offert

Il tait vieux et tout rouill, mais quand on l’a pos par terre

One day when I was very nice, my father told me

An extraordinary toy, with big green eyes

I took him in my arms but when I put him down

He was doing "Zip" when he was riding

"Bap" when it was spinning

"Brrr" when he walked

Everything thundered the first time, when I turned it over

I saw he had two big sleep buttons on his stomach

Pushed them both after, then pulled them both

But when I put it down, my eyes opened wide

He was doing "Zip" when he was riding

"Bap" when it was spinning

"Brrr" when he walked

I don't know what it was

And I think I'll never know

He walked like a soldier, suddenly he sat down

He went under a chair and then suddenly disappeared under the bed

I cried while my father laughed out loud

For as I turned around I saw the toy that was behind me

He was doing "Zip" when he was riding

"Bap" when it was spinning

"Brrr" when he walked

I don't know what it was

And I think I'll never know

The years have passed too quickly, and just yesterday

In the attic I found this extraordinary toy

I called my little boy, and gave it to him

It was old and rusty, but when we put it down

He was doing "Zip" when he was riding

"Bap" when it was spinning
