I denna natt blir världen ny - Carola

Betlehem ligger så ödslig och grå

Änglar och herdar de samlas ändå

Åter vill lamm och små barn hinna gå

Till stallet där undret skall ske

Murar som byggs runt en stad och ett land

Dörrar som stängs när en värld står i brand

Hjärtan som hårdnar där hoppet försvann

De hindrar ej människor att se:

I denna natt blir världen ny

Det händer in en avstängd by

Och åter ser vi mörkret fly

När himlen öppnar sig

Barnet vi firar är blod av vårt blod

Stallet är frihetens ödmjuka bo

Stunden är helig och sången är god

Den klingar av kärlek och tro

Paradis doftar av jord nu i natt

Jorden tar himlen i famn likt en skatt

Stjärnorna blinkar till änglarnas skratt

Från stenar skall lovsången gro:

Det händer i en avstängd by

Och åter ser vi mörkret fly

När himlen öppnar sig

I natt skall markens herdar le

Sen böjer sig de vise tre

I Betlehem skall alla se

Att himlen öppnar sig

Från berg till berg

Sprids sången i natt

Från by till by

Skall världen bli ny

Dörrar sprängs upp

Och murar rivs ner

När Kristus, vår vän

Föds i var och en

Betlehem ligger så ödslig och grå

Änglar och herdar de samlas ändå

Bethlehem is so desolate and gray

Angels and shepherds they gather anyway

Again, lambs and small children want to have time to walk

To the stable where the miracle is to take place

Walls built around a city and a country

Doors that close when a world is on fire

Hearts that harden where hope disappeared

They do not stop people from seeing:

Tonight the world becomes new

A closed village happens

And again we see the darkness escape

When the sky opens

The child we celebrate is the blood of our blood

The stable is the humble nest of freedom

The moment is sacred and the singing is good

It sounds of love and faith

Paradise smells of earth tonight

The earth embraces the sky like a treasure

The stars twinkle to the angels' laughter

From stones the song of praise shall grow:

Tonight the world becomes new

It happens in a closed village

And again we see the darkness escape

When the sky opens

Tonight the shepherds of the earth will smile

Then the wise three bow

In Bethlehem everyone will see

That the sky opens up

From mountain to mountain

Spread the song tonight

From village to village

Should the world be new

Doors exploded

And walls are torn down

When Christ, our friend

Born in everyone
