I’ve got my back to the wall

At the doorway of forever

Tried to make my great escape

But now my hands can’t find the lever

Seems my mind’s made up

But my heart, it feels so hollow

The unintended consequence

Of bitter pills I’ve had to swallow

Once in a while when you smile

I’m reminded

Of words that you said

meanings are blinded

And cut me to the bone

But I have to find out on my own

I heard a voice

Saying stand up and deliver

So I tore off all my clothes

And washed my sins in the river

And now they’re swimming upstream

But I can’t unlock the riddle

I end up twisted, tossed and turned around

And stranded in the middle

Caught in-between misery

And I’m stressing

Wearing a curse

To disguise all my blessings

I’m sinking like a stone

But I have to find out on my own

I got miles left to go

Before I get to where I’m going

But the grass keeps getting greener

And I hear that growing

So if I don’t make it back

Please tell my sister and my brother

To hold onto all you’ve got

When all you’ve got is one another

all the lies and the lines I’ve spoken

But every door closed

Means a window is broken

To light the way back home

But I have to find out on my own
