Ich kann nicht länger schweigen

Ich muss ihnen schreiben, jetzt in diesen schwierigen Zeiten

Denn ich muss ihnen beweisen: es gibt auch Alt-Europäer

Die noch solidarischer zu ihnen halten als Tony Blair

Die keine Show abziehen wie Michael Moore beim Oscarverleih

Denen als Botschaft an sie einfach nur 'ne Postkarte reicht

Denn ich will Ihnen nicht die Füße küssen wie Angela Merkel;

Alles was ich will, ist Sie in Ihrem Handeln bestärken

Denn diesseits des Atlantiks halten Sie fast alle für krank

Und unsre Völkerrechtler wollen Sie auf der Anklagebank

Doch die Wahrheit ist, und Sie Mr. Bush ham das erkannt

Woran’s uns Europäern offensichtlich mangelt ist Dank

Denn die Politiker ham keinen Respekt mehr von Ihnen

Die Presse und die Zeitungen schreiben nur schlecht über Sie

Alle lästern über Sie, aber damit ist jetzt Schluss

Denn hier steh ich und sag es Ihnen: Danke Mr. Bush!

Dann ham' Sie viel getan für so 'nen armen Sünder wie mich

Denn dass ich endlich voll auf einer Linie bin mit dem Papst

Verdank' ich einzig und allein dem Kriegsbeginn im Irak

Danke Bush, denn ich hätt auch nie zu glauben gewagt

Dass ich einer Meinung sein kann mit dem was Gauweiler sagt

Und ich bin nicht allein, Herr Bush, ganz Deutschland ist dankbar

Denn wären Sie nicht so aggressiv hätten wir Stoiber als Kanzler

Und wenn’s 'ne Frage gibt in der sogar Herr Schröder konsequent bleibt

Ist das nur eins Ihrer vielen Verdienste an der Menschheit

Danke Mr. Bush, wir brauchen mehr Männer wie Sie

Die sich noch aktiv engagieren für die Demokratie

Sie sind der Größte Bush, niemand anderem kann es gelingen

So viele Menschen für den Frieden auf die Straße zu bringen

Danke Bush dafür dass man wie ich als feiger Pazifist

Mal wieder stolz sein kann dass man Kriegsdienstverweigerer ist

Und es ist Ihr Verdienst, dass sich Völker versöhnen mit Deutschland

Keiner tut mehr als Sie für die deutsch-französische Freundschaft

Danke Bush, endlich bekommen wir hier 'ne Ahnung von dem

Woför die Armyjacken und die Camouflagehosen stehn;

Und es tut gut, die Jugendlichen auf der Strasse zu sehn

Und festzustellen, dass die nicht nur auf die Loveparade gehn

Danke Bush, weil es an niemand anders liegt als an Dir

Dass die sich plötzlich alle so für Politik interessieren

Danke Bush, denn jetzt wird endlich öffentlich diskutiert

Was sonst im Sicherheitsrat hinter den Kulissen passiert

Jetzt wissen wir, dass es dort üblich ist sich Stimmen zu kaufen

Und dass die Welt nicht mehr bereit ist Ihre Lügen zu glauben

Danke für die Show, Herr Bush, weil wir sonst selten dabei sind

Wenn Rumsfeld auftritt mit vom CIA gefälschten Beweisen

Danke Mr. Bush für ihre bestechende Logik

Mit der es heißt, der Irak sei so schrecklich bedrohlich

Dass man ihn angreifen muss, was wiederum kein Problem ist

Weil er militärisch so schwach ist, dass man ihn leicht erledigt

Danke Bush, endlich wissen wir was los ist am Golf

Dass man dort jahrelang UN Resolutionen nicht befolgt

Danke dass wir jetzt wissen, dass das schon reicht für 'nen Krieg

Obwohl in Israel seit 30 Jahren das Gleiche geschieht

Danke Bush, schließlich hätte es sonst ja keiner erfahren

Wie offensichtlich da gemessen wird mit zweierlei Maß;

Und dort 'ham Sie auch sicherlich gelernt als cleverer Mensch

Wie effektiv man mit Waffengewalt den Terror bekämpft

Danke Mr. Bush, Ihre Strategen sollten sich schämen

Bei soviel Dummheit von intelligenten Bomben zu reden

Auch wenn Sie tausendmal sagen, keine davon ging daneben

Es wird niemals so was wie intelligente Bomben geben

Danke Bush

Danke Bush sag nicht nur ich, weil auch Bin Laden gefällt

Wie Sie den Hass auf sich schüren in der arabischen Welt

Und Extremisten von Pakistan bis nach Saudi-Arabien

Müssen Ihnen dankbar sein, auf einmal soviel Auftrieb zu haben

Vielen Dank Herr Bush, denn Sie bringen Menschen den Krieg

Und da geht’s nicht um Macht und Öl sondern um Demokratie

Und obwohl Gore behauptet von den Demokraten zu sein

Sind Sie es, der deshalb die Welt von 'nem Diktator befreit

Was als leuchtendes Beispiel für alle Länder gedacht ist

Damit man nirgends den Willen des Volkes noch länger missachtet

Meinen Respekt Herr Bush, weil’s mutiger nun wirklich nicht geht

Denn Sie sind selbst nicht von der Mehrheit Ihrer Bürger gewählt

I can no longer remain silent

I must write to you, now in these difficult times

Because I have to prove to them: there are also old Europeans

Who stand by them even more than Tony Blair

Who don't put on a show like Michael Moore at the Oscars

For whom just a postcard is enough as a message to them

Because I don't want to kiss your feet like Angela Merkel;

All I want is to encourage you in your actions

Because on this side of the Atlantic you think almost everyone is sick

What we Europeans obviously lack is thanks

Because the politicians don't have any more respect from you

The press and the newspapers only write badly about you

Everyone's gossip about you, but that's over now

Because here I stand and tell you: Thank you Mr. Bush!

And it's good to see young people on the street

And to realize that they don't just go to the Love Parade

That they are suddenly all so interested in politics

What else happens behind the scenes in the Security Council

Now we know that it's common to buy votes there

And that the world is no longer willing to believe your lies

When Rumsfeld comes forward with evidence falsified by the CIA

Thank you Mr. Bush for your irresistible logic

Which says Iraq is so terribly menacing

That you have to attack him, which again is not a problem

Because he's so weak militarily that he's easy to take down

Thanks Bush, we finally know what's going on in the Gulf

That UN resolutions were not followed there for years

Thanks that we now know that that's enough for a war

Although the same thing has been happening in Israel for 30 years

Thanks Bush, after all, nobody else would have found out

How obviously there is a double standard;

And that's where you certainly learned how to be a clever person

How effectively one uses force of arms to fight terrorism

Thank you Mr. Bush, your strategists should be ashamed

Talking about smart bombs with so much stupidity

Even if you say a thousand times, none of them went wrong

There will never be such a thing as smart bombs

I'm not the only one saying thanks Bush, because Bin Laden also likes it

How you stir up hatred of yourself in the Arab world

And extremists from Pakistan to Saudi Arabia

Must be thankful to have so much lift all at once

Thank you Mr. Bush for bringing war to the people

And it's not about power and oil, it's about democracy

And although Gore claims to be Democrats

Are you the one who frees the world from a dictator?

Which is meant to be a shining example for all countries

So that the will of the people is no longer disregarded anywhere

My respect Mr. Bush, because it really doesn't get any braver

Because you are not elected by the majority of your citizens
