Là-bas sur l’océan

Dans ce phare qui scintille

Le gardien vigilant

Demeure sans famille.

Seul dans l’immensité

Quand le flot se soulève

Parfois comme en un rêve

Il se prend à chanter.

L’océan sous sa garde

Le soir fait miroiter

Par la lune blafarde

Ses replis argentés.

Dans cet apothéose

Porte vers l’horizon

Sa joyeuse chanson

Océan grandiose !

Mais un soir le gardien

Quelque folie en tête…

Au village voisin

Va revoir sa brunette.

Près d’elle il s’attarda

Car elle était jolie

Mais le phare-vigie

Le soir n'éclaira pas.

L’océan sans son garde

Paraît désorienté

Les étoiles hagardes

Ont terni leur clarté.

Prenez garde au naufrage

Pauvres petits bateaux

Balancés par les flots

Car l’océan fait rage !

Au village voisin

Des gens courent dans l’ombre

On sonne le tocsin

Pour un bateau qui sombre.

Pour lui porter secours

Le gars dans l’eau s'élance

Mais les flots par vengeance

Le prennent pour toujours

L’océan n’a plus de garde

Car dans l’obscurité

C’est la folle camarde

Qui vient de l’emporter.

Sorcière toujours avide

Entraînez au lointain

Celui qui fut gardien

De l’océan perfide.
