Not many sounds echo off the bark that forms your tree

Your branches hold the rope that chokes the life from my breathing

Each gnarled strand cuts deeper into what was human flesh

But this shell doesn’t feel, this shell is broken, numb unrest

My tomb

When I’m gone lay me in the home I never made

Scatter my ashes on your heart, where they’re sure to blow away

Leave the stone blank to reflect the emptiness in my nglect

Eventually I’ll be as mpty to you as the emptiness in my respect

Oh, how your limbs can hold so much weight I’ll never know

The cracks on my trunk were deeper than the roots from yours could grow

I’ll soon learn the heavier burden, the shell or the soul

Whereas you will only know my torment as long as this rope holds
