Nothing’s as simple as it really seems

All I can rely on are my dreams

The things I took for granted I’ve come to realize

That I’m looking through someone’s eyes

I saw the forest now all I see are the trees

I see the hungry and the homeless in a long winters breeze

Saw a storm take away my neighbor’s home

See the elderly withdrawn and all alone

And if you ever ask yourself what was I thinking of

Time will tell you the truth when push comes to shove

It’s a hard lesson to learn every habit has its vice

There’s nothing free in this world it all comes with a price

I’ve given it my all and had nothing gained

See the children come in from the acid rain

I watched the scholars work for minimum wage

I hear the moans that pour in with the old age

I see the coral reef and its slowly diminishing

Feel the frustration from the deaf who try to sing

I’ve watched the hopeful fall flat on their face

Watched my favorite car lose in the biggest race
