U rat je pošao i gord je bio

Jer svojoj zemlji pomoći je htio

Dali su mu pušku i oznake voda

I savjet da kožu čim skuplje proda

A kad su mu rekli

Neka pođe naprijed

Bio je spreman

Da istinu traži, ma bilo gdje

A sada kada je mrtav

Domovina slavi

Još jednog heroja

Sa zvijezdom u glavi

A ona što ga voli

Povratak je htjela živog vojnika

Jer s mrtvim herojem

Što može sad

I kamo da krene ta mlada žena

Sa tužnom slavom i šakom ordena

He went to war and was proud
