Ступеньки -

Долго он взбирался по ступенькам,

Поднимаясь вверх под небеса.

Жил мечтой своей и только мельком

Слышал снизу чьи-то голоса.

Под ногами пели хрипло доски,

Вдохновляя на проклятый путь.

Как ему казалось очень просто

Через трудности перешагнуть.

Поднимаясь наверх, он испытывал риск,

Оглянувшись назад, опрокинуться вниз.

И не смея руки оторвать от перил,

Он в себе все другие желанья убил.

Почему же кажется порою,

Что не так был прожит этот путь.

Всё напрасно, с мутною душою

Невозможно ночью отдохнуть.

Обвиненья слышал он частенько.

«Эгоист, бессовестный подлец!»

Только он считал свои ступеньки,

До конца… и вот пришел конец.

Отлетела душа, ввысь движенье любя.

И спросил Бог тогда: «Что же есть у тебя?

Что принес ты с собой?»

Он в ответ промолчал,

Обернулся назад… и на Землю упал.

For a long time he climbed the steps,

Rising up into the sky.

He lived his dream and only briefly

Heard voices from downstairs.

Boards sang hoarsely underfoot,

Inspiring to the damn path.

As it seemed to him very simply

Step over difficulties.

Climbing up, he experienced the risk,

Looking back, roll down.

And not daring to take my hands off the railing,

He killed all other desires in himself.

Why does it sometimes seem

What was wrong with this path.

All in vain, with a muddy soul

Impossible to rest at night.

He often heard accusations.

"Egoist, shameless scoundrel!"

Only he counted his steps,

Until the end... and now the end has come.

The soul flew away, loving the movement upwards.

And then God asked: “What do you have?

What did you bring with you?"

He remained silent in response,

I turned around... and fell to the ground.
