Где ты была эти дни и недели, куда указала лоза?..

Кто согревал твое в камень замерзшее сердце?

Я знаю — во время великого плача

остались сухими глаза

У тех, кто звонил нам домой и сулил нам бессмертье…

Господь дал нам маковый цвет, дал нам порох, дал имя — одно двоих,

И запеленал нас в узоры чугунных решеток,

И стало светло, как бывает когда в самых недрах рождается стих,

И кто-то с любовью помянет кого-то

О, хлопок и лен;

сколько лет прошло, тот же свет из волшебного глаза

О, ивы и клен;

мы смотрим друг на друга, а над нами все небо в алмазах…

Да где ты была?

— я собрал все оружие в самый дырявый мешок,

И вынес туда, где по-прежнему верят приметам,

А здесь даже дети умеют вдыхать этот белый, как снег, порошок,

И дышат на стекла, и пишут, что выхода нет
