Я потерял покой и ночью плохо сплю,

И только об одном судьбу свою молю —

Чтоб лишь однажды у меня хватило сил,

Чтобы пришёл к тебе и ясно объяснил,

Что уже так смешно, я люблю, как любят лишь в кино,

И что если надо — быть могу я верным другом, старшим братом,

Но ни кем-нибудь ещё там…

Но всё же я никак решиться не могу —

Такой беды не пожелаешь и врагу —

Нет сил, чтоб о любви ей честно всё сказать!..

И снова ночью не могу спокойно спать…

Но я собрался, сел за стол и ручку взял,

И ей чудесное посланье написал,

Письмом своим любимой объяснить хотел

То, что сказать словами раньше не сумел.

Что уже так смешно, я люблю, как любят лишь в кино,

И что если надо — быть могу я верным другом, старшим братом,

Но ни кем-нибудь ещё там…

Конверт заклеил я и адрес написал,

И без раздумий на почтамт я побежал,

И вижу вдруг на встречу мне идёт она!..

И вижу, что она шагает не одна…

Что уже так давно всё у них прекрасно, как в кино.

Что ж, согласен, ладно!

— Буду я ей верным другом, старшим братом,

Но ни кем-нибудь ещё там…

Буду ждать!..
