Slavuj, ptico mala,

svakom pokoj dala,

Samo meni junaku

tri rane zadala.

Prva mi je tuga

na srdašcu mome —

Staru majku imam,

hranit je ne mogu.

Druga mi je tuga

na srdašcu mome —

Vrana konja imam,

jašit ga ne mogu.

Treća mi je tuga

na srdašcu mome —

Vjernu ljubu imam,

ljubit je ne mogu.

Nightingale, little bird,

gave everyone peace,

Only to me the hero

she gave three wounds.

My first is sadness
