I Run - Aerial View

Among the rungs of the desolate cityscape

As they chase me down the twisting alleyways

Within the empty tenements I’ll escape

Surely they won’t find me

I run, doesn’t matter who from

Through empty strip malls, parking lots

Through thousand foot forests

And crumbling city blocks

They wouldn’t search every vacant room

On every floor of every vacant skyrise

Their hounds could sniff for days

But not every potential hiding spot

Leave the hangar or the warehouse

Where it’s easier to spot movement

Scamper down the hallways like a mouse

To the fields where I’ll escape

Past the orange glow of the industrial lights

Where I’ll get out of sight, conceal me

Though the forest’s dense and dark

I’ll brave the black night

What’s it that causes me to want to run?
