Als Orpheus in das Dunkel ging

So folgte er Eurydike

Sie zu retten aus dem Schlund der Unterwelt

Und scheiterte

Und wenn ich nun ins Dunkel geh‘

Sag folgst du deiner Liebe

Dorthin wo die Stufe bricht

Am Grund der Wendel tiefster Stiege

Als sich zu früh umgeblickt

Der Held nach seiner Liebsten

Zog der Hades sie hinab

Wo die Schwärze ward am tiefsten

Und wenn du steigst mir nach

In den Keller meiner Seele

Wird reißen dein Verstand entzwei

Wenn ich mich umdrehe?

In uns allen steckt ein Ort

Der entsagt jeder Fantasie

Sieh mich an, ich war schon dort

Und jenes Grauen verlässt mich nie

Folge mir nicht nach auf meinen Wegen

Pfade führ‘n dich auf, aus meiner Welt

Bleiches Moos die Haut berührt

Der mich in die Schwärze zieht

In den Abgrund meiner Kindheit wo das

Licht die Schritte flieht

Jede Stufe saugt den Tritt

Abwärts und kein Weg mir glückt

An das Licht wo ich ließ dich einst zurück

Jedes Herz ist ein Labyrinth

Manches flach — manches tief, mein Kind

Und wenn ich nicht den Rückweg find

Halt‘ dich nicht auf

Und folge nur dem Frühlingswind

Warum stehst du dort und schaust so traurig
