Wintersun is a Finnish melodic death metal band founded in 2004. Their sound combines elements of symphonic metal, folk metal, and epic metal. Formed by former members of Ensiferum and Norther , the band shares a stylistic affinity with these bands. Wintersun debut album, released in 2004, received acclaim for its complex arrangements and virtuoso performances. Among their best-known tracks are "Beyond the Dark Sun" and "Sons of Winter and Stars" Wintersun has made a significant contribution to the development of epic metal, becoming one of the most recognizable bands in the genre.
