William Beckett is an American musician born in 1985 in Chicago, USA. He is best known as the lead vocalist and primary lyricist of the rock band The Academy Is.... The band was formed in 2003 when Beckett and guitarist Mike Carden joined forces from competing Chicago bands. Signed to Atlantic Records, Fueled by Ramen, and Decaydance Records, the group gained recognition for their energetic performances and songwriting. Key members also included bassist Adam T. Siska, a high school friend of Beckett. The Academy Is... contributed significantly to the mid-2000s rock scene with their unique sound and lyrical depth.
