
Wayne Jackson was an American soul and R&B musician born on November 24, 1941, in West Memphis, Arkansas. Known for his exceptional trumpet skills, he was a key member of The Mar-Keys and later part of The Memphis Horns, the house band for Stax Records. Alongside his musical partner Andrew Love, Jackson contributed to the signature horn sound on hit records by legends like Otis Redding and Sam & Dave. Described as "possibly the greatest soul horn group of all time," his work remains a cornerstone of the genre. Jackson passed away on June 21, 2016, leaving a lasting legacy in soul music.
