Walter Becker (1950–2017) was an American musician, songwriter, and record producer. Originally from the United States, he co-founded the jazz-rock band Steely Dan , where he performed as guitarist, bassist, and co-songwriter. Becker met Donald Fagen while studying at Bard College, marking the beginning of their fruitful collaboration. The band achieved success with hits such as "Reelin' In the Years" and "Rikki Don't Lose That Number" Walter Becker made a significant contribution to the development of jazz-rock, combining complex arrangements with intelligent lyrics.
