Villagers is an Irish band from Dún Laoghaire, founded in 2008 by Conor J. O'Brien. The band performs indie and baroque pop, inspired by both contemporary composers and classics like Paul Simon and Robert Wyatt. Their debut album "Becoming a Jackal" , released on May 14, 2010, on Domino Records , was critically acclaimed and nominated for the Mercury Prize Prize. O'Brien recorded almost all the instruments on the album himself. Villagers have made a significant contribution to the development of indie music, combining atmospheric sounds with profound lyrics.
