
Vera Hall was an American folk singer born in Livingston, Alabama, in 1902. Known for her hauntingly beautiful voice, she gained recognition with her 1937 recording of "Trouble So Hard", a song that has since been widely sampled and referenced in modern music. Despite limited commercial success during her lifetime, her work has had a lasting impact on the preservation of African American folk traditions. In 2005, she was posthumously inducted into the Alabama Women's Hall of Fame, cementing her legacy as a significant figure in American folk music history.
