Вангелис (real name: Эвангелос Одиссеас Папатанасиу ) was a Greek composer born on March 29, 1943. A pioneer of electronic music, he worked in the New Age genre and became known for his innovative approaches to sound creation. Вангелис gained international recognition for his soundtrack to the film Chariots of Fire, for which he won an Оскар Award in 1982. His other notable works include the scores for Blade Runner and 1492: Conquest of Paradise. His contribution to the development of electronic music and cinematic soundtracks remains significant.
