Tinariwen is a Malian band founded in 1979 in Tamanrasset, Algeria. Composed of Tuareg musicians from the Sahara Desert, the band performs foreign rock. The band gained international recognition after releasing the album The Radio Tisdas Sessions and performing at Festival au Désert in Mali and the Roskilde Festival in Denmark. Their album Aman Iman received critical acclaim. Tinariwen has won a Грэмми Award, and their music has been called "the people's voice of rebellion." The band has made a significant contribution to the popularization of Tuareg music on the global stage.
