Theodor Bastard is a Russian band from St. Petersburg, founded in 1999 by Alexander Starostin. The group is considered one of the pioneers of the world music genre in Russia. The band's defining characteristic is the unique vocals of Yana Veva, who is also the author of many of their songs. Theodor Bastard work spans genres such as ethno-electronics, trip-hop, and darkwave. Their albums have been released in Russia, Germany, Turkey, Mexico, and Argentina, and since 2020, internationally on Season of Mist label. The band has made a significant contribution to the development of ethnic and experimental music.
