The Searchers were a British rock band formed in Liverpool in 1959. Emerging as part of the Merseybeat scene alongside The Beatles, The Swinging Blue Jeans, and Gerry and the Pacemakers, they gained prominence in the 1960s. Their hits include "Sweets for My Sweet", "Sugar and Spice", "Needles and Pins", and "Don’t Throw Your Love Away". They also achieved success with their cover of "Love Potion No. 9" by The Clovers. Notably, they were the second Liverpool band after The Beatles to chart in the United States. The Searchers contributed significantly to the popularization of the Merseybeat sound worldwide.
