The Presets are an Australian duo from Sydney, formed in 2001 by Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes. The musicians met at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where they both studied. In 2005, they released their debut album, Beams , which received positive reviews from critics. Their second album, Apocalypso , released in 2008, was a commercial success and earned the band several ARIA Awards , including Best Dance Newcomer and Album of the Year. In 2009, The Presets won the APRA Awards Award for Lyricists of the Year. The group has made a significant contribution to the development of electronic and dance music.
