The Kinks were a British rock band formed in 1963 in Muswell Hill, North London, by brothers Ray and Dave Davies. Emerging during the British rhythm and blues and Merseybeat boom, they became one of the most influential rock bands of the 1960s. Their third single, "You Really Got Me", written by Ray Davies, became an international hit, topping the UK charts and reaching the Top 10 in the US.
