The Gathering is a rock band from the Netherlands, founded in 1989 by brothers René and Hans Rutten. Initially a doom metal band, their style evolved toward alternative music. A major milestone in their career was the album "Mandylion" (1995), which brought the band international recognition thanks to the vocals of Anneke van Giersbergen. Their well-known songs include "Strange Machines" and "Leaves" The Gathering made a significant contribution to the development of the alternative scene, combining heavy guitar riffs with an atmospheric sound.
