The Connells are an American band from Raleigh, North Carolina, formed in 1984. Known for their guitar-driven melodic rock and jangly pop sound, their introspective lyrics often reflect the history and culture of the American South. While they achieved moderate success in the U.S. alternative charts, their biggest international hit, "'74-'75", topped the charts in Norway, Sweden, and 11 other European countries in 1995. Though largely inactive since 2001, The Connells have not officially disbanded and occasionally perform. Their work remains a significant contribution to the alternative rock and jangle pop genres.
