The Archies were a fictional pop group from the United States, active between 1968 and 1973. Created as part of the animated series The Archie Show, the band consisted of comic characters Archie Andrews, Jughead Jones, and Reggie Mantle. The music was performed by session musicians, with lead vocals by Ron Dante. Their biggest hit, "Sugar, Sugar", topped the charts in 1969 and became a defining track of the bubblegum pop genre. The Archies contributed to the popularization of animated bands and left a lasting mark on pop culture.
