Taio Cruz (real name Jacob Taio Cruz ) is a British singer of Nigerian-Brazilian descent, born in 1980. He works in the genres of pop, dance music, foreign rap and hip-hop. In 2008, Taio Cruz released his debut album, Departure , which brought him success in the UK and a nomination for MOBO Awards . His next album, Rokstarr (2010), included the hit single " Break Your Heart ". That same year, he collaborated with Kylie Minogue and Travie McCoy on the track " Higher ". Taio Cruz also wrote the song " Telling the World " for the animated film Rio. His work has had a significant influence on dance-pop music.
