
Sylvia Telles was a Brazilian singer and composer born in 1934 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She was a prominent figure in the jazz samba and bossa nova movements of the 1950s and 1960s. Known for her interpretations of works by Antonio Carlos Jobim and other key composers, she contributed significantly to the popularization of bossa nova both in Brazil and internationally. Despite her untimely death in 1966, her recordings remain influential, with occasional compilations keeping her legacy alive. Sylvia Telles is remembered as a key voice in the development of MPB (Música Popular Brasileira).
