Summoning is an Austrian metal band formed in 1993. Initially, the band played black metal, which was reflected in their early demos and debut album. Over time, Summoning shifted their focus to atmospheric metal with elements of dark ambient, while retaining their signature black metal vocals. The band has released eight studio albums, including such works as "Dol Guldur" and "Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame" Summoning lyrics are inspired by the works of John Tolkien, making their work unique in the genre. The band has had a significant influence on the development of atmospheric metal.
