Steve Ferrone is an English drummer born in 1950. He is best known as a member of the rock band Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers from 1994 to 2017, replacing original drummer Stan Lynch. In the 1970s, he was part of the "classic lineup" the Average White Band . Ferrone has collaborated with artists such as Michael Jackson , Eric Clapton , George Harrison , Duran Duran , Stevie Nicks , Bee Gees , and Aerosmith . He also hosts the radio show New Guy on Sirius XM Tom Petty Radio . His contributions to rock and jazz music have made him one of the most sought-after drummers of his time.
